Cashbook on Multiple Computers.
If you want to install Cashbook on a new (second) computer, remember that it will initially install as a demonstration version and it will need to be registered within 30 days. This is not normally a problem, but if in doubt, please contact Practical Systems to see where you stand with regards to multiple installations.
Step 1. Backup your Existing Data
Note:
That for each option discussed below, you can backup to a local folder and then choose the
Backup to Practical Systems Data Warehouse
option to make the restore process on the new computer simpler.
A. Cashbook Plus
Backup Individual Companies

You will then be prompted to select all the years which you would like data to be available on the new computer for the current company. Ensure that the file which is set as
Backup to file
is correct and, if not backing up to the Data Warehouse, will be accessible from the new computer(e.g. the USB stick)
Backup Multiple Companies

On the current computer click on the
File > Multi-Company
Backup
menu option

Select which you companies you wish to transfer to the new computer

Ensure that the file which is set as
Backup to file
is correct and, if not backing up to the Data Warehouse, will be accessible from the new computer(e.g. the USB stick)

Click on the
OK
button and wait for the backup to complete
Step 2. Install Cashbook on another computer
Step 3. Load your data into the new Cashbook installation
For each backup file created in
Step 1
, restore the data into the new Cashbook installation.
If you are restoring company by company, ensure that you have each company already created, ready to receive the data.
If you have done a multi-company backup, ensure you use the multi-company restore option.
