Step 1 - Backup Existing Data
Note that for each option discussed below, you can backup to a local folder and then choose the Backup to Practical Systems Data Warehouse option to make the restore process on the new computer simpler
Backup Individual Companies
- Click on File
- Backup Data
- Individual Company menu option
iv. The user will then be prompted to select all the years which they would like to be available on the new computer for the current company. Ensure that the file which is set as Backup To is correct and, if not backing up to the Data Warehouse, will be accessible from the new computer e.g. the USB stick which is being used:
v. Click OK and wait for the backup to complete
Backup All Companies
- Click File
- Backup Data
- All Companies/Years menu option
- Ensure that the file which is set as Backup To will be accessible from the new computer e.g. the USB stick that is being used
- Click OK and wait for the backup to complete
Step 2 - Install Cashbook on Another Computer
Step 3 - Load your Data into the New Cashbook Installation
For each backup file created in Step 1, restore the data into the new Cashbook installation. If restoring company by company, ensure that each company has already been created, ready to receive the data.
If a multi-company backup has been done, ensure to use the multi-company restore option.
