Enter share prices for Valuation Purposes

Recording periodic valuations for investments e.g. Share Prices. 

OPTION 1: MANUALLY ENTER SHARE PRICES

This function allows for recording periodic values for investments, e.g. share prices.
To enter a value for an item in the Investment Register follow these instructions:

Step 1. Select Investment menu option

C lick on the  Registers  >  Investments  menu option.

Step 2. Investment Register Listing

From the Investment Register Listing ,   highlight   the required investment
Click on the   Edit/Select   button.

Step 3. Select Valuations Tab

  • Click on the  Valuations  tab.
  • Click on the  Add  button.
  • Enter a  Date  and the  Average Price  for that day.
  • Click  OK   to save.

  • Click on the  OK  button to return to the   Investment Register   screen.
 

OPTION 2: IMPORT SHARE PRICES :

The import share prices utility provides a way of periodically importing current share prices to save having to manually enter this information. There are a number of organisations that provide price download information that can then be imported directly into the Share Register.
To import share prices follow these instructions:

Step 1. Select Investments menu option  

  • Click on the  Registers  >  Investments  menu option.
  • The list of investments will be displayed. (Ensure that all  Shares  investments have a valid ASX code. i.e. Double click on Share. In  Investment Details  tab, make sure the in a  Code , e.g. BHP.)
  • Click on the  Import Share Prices  button.

Step 2. Complete Specifications

  • Enter/check the following specifications:
  • Field index locations:  - i.e. relative location of the following fields in each line of data import; date (or use specified date), share code, date format, field separator, number of header & footer rows (if any).
  • Select the file to import  - click on the folder icon to browse for file to import.
  • Click on the   Import Share Prices  button to import the file.
  • The matching import information will then be listed on the grid on the right side of the screen. Check that information in this list is correct.
  • Click  Update Share Prices  button to complete the import operation.
  • Click the  Close   button to close the import screen and return to the main menu.

 
Investment tracking is only available in Level 4 of the program

Note:  Investment Register Listing shows list of investments with cost and valuation amounts:
  • In the main Investment Register window, click on the  Reports  button.
  • Click on the  Investment Listing  radial dial.
  • Choose selection criteria required.
  • Click on the  Print  button.
