Linking to the Products / Items Register in Cashbook Transactions
Adding a transaction into the Cashbook
that needs to link to the Product / Items Register.
Step 1.
Ensure that you have chosen to Update Products / Items
as 'From Cashbook':
-
Click on the Setup > Settings menu option.
-
Click on the
Transactions tab.
-
Select 'From Cashbook' for the Update Products / Items
box.
Note:
That there are two other settings you can make while setting up for the products / items register:
-
Auto-add new new products / items to list in Cashbook
. If ticked, any new items entered into the "Notes / Register Link" field (on an account that is linked to the products / items register) will be added to product / item list. If this option is unticked, new products will be ignored. You would use this setting (unticked) if you only wanted to track purchase or sales of specific items that you have already set up in the products list.
-
Fast-add Product / Item Transactions:
If this is ticked, transactions for existing products / items will be automatically entered into the Product / Item section without any prompts or provision for extra notes.
Step 2. Add a new transaction to Cashbook using the relevant Account Code that is linked to the Products / Items Register
You will need a Quantity if you wish to update the quantity on-hand for the selected product.
Step 3. In the Note (Optional) section
Click on the down-arrow to access the drop down list of Products / Items and select the one you wish to use, Lucerne in this example.
Step 4. Once the Product / Item has been selected
-
Once you have selected the
Product / Item
press the Tab
or Enter
key on your keyboard.
-
If you have not turned on Fast-add Product / Item Transactions (see
Step 1
above), this will open a window for the
Product
transaction.
-
Enter the
Batch No
(if relevant) and any notes you wish to add.
-
Click OK and OK again in the
Add Transaction
window.
NOTE:
If you make a mistake and delete the Cashbook entry this will not update the inventory. The transaction in the
Product / Item Register
will need to also be deleted.
