Linking to the Products/Items register in Cashbook Transactions
There are two options when adding a transaction into Cashbook and linking to the Product/Item Register. The update of products/items can either be done via Cashbook or via invoice entries. Please see below the instructions for updating via Cashbook. To update product/items via invoices, see "From Invoices"
Step 1: Fast-add Product/Item Transactions

Note that there are two other settings you can make while setting up for the products/items register:
Auto-add new new products/items to list in Cashbook. If ticked, any new items entered into the "Notes/Register Link" field (on an account that is linked to the products/items register) will be added to product/item list. If this option is un-ticked, new products will be ignored. You would use this un-ticked setting if you only wanted to track purchases or sales of specific items that you have already set up in the products list.
Fast-add Product/Item Transactions. If this is ticked, transactions for existing products/items will be automatically entered into the Product/Item section without any prompts or provision for extra notes.
Step 2: Transaction
- Add a new transaction to Cashbook using the relevant Account Code that is linked to the Products/Items Register
- Enter a Quantity if wishing to update the quantity on-hand for the selected product
Step 3: Select Product/Item
- In the Note section, click on the down-arrow to access the drop down list of Products/Items and select the one you wish to use, Lucerne in this example
Step 4: Confirm
- Once you have selected the Product/Item press the Tab or Enter on the keyboard. If you have not turned on Fast-add Product/Item Transactions (see Step 1 above), this will open a window for the Product transaction
- Enter the Batch No (if relevant) and any notes you wish to add
- Click OK and OK again in the Add Transaction window
Please Note: If a mistake is made the Cashbook entry deleted, this will not update the inventory. The transaction in the Product/Item Register will also need to be deleted
