Transaction Reference Numbers

Adding a transaction but Cashbook won't generate a new Reference Number

The Cashbook program is designed so reference numbering occurs sequentially, from the last transaction entered
For Example: If the last transaction was cheque number 00107, so the next one is automatically numbered 00108.

  1. If your next transaction entered has a different Reference eg. EFT, the next transaction entered after that will automatically default to EFT
  2. If you click on the Reference drop down arrow, the sequential cheque number is listed


If you enter a cheque number that already exists, Cashbook will notify you with a message similar to this, to avoid duplication:
